What a beautiful day for trouble. At least it was if you were Kyle Marconi. Lincoln Park was always big and bustling and for the most part he was always around. For the most part, Kyle didn’t always go to cause trouble. In fact, he wasn’t really there for trouble now - he’d just wanted a break from his foster parents, and given it was a Saturday, school wasn’t a problem. Somehow though it always found him. He’d had run ins with the gang of kids before. In fact he’d had nearly a dozen run ins with them around his neighborhood which wasn’t the best. But needless to say they’d had a thing going on for a while now - a bad thing and they’d pretty much taken the chance to try and jump him. Kyle never started fights, but he sure as heck finished them. They’d got a little crowd going too - which was embarrassing because honestly he was losing. A few punches had already been thrown his way, but he was hardly going down. Even with a fat lip and his fists bruised. “Come on! I can do this all day!” He told the older boys. “You want a piece of me?” He threw another punch landing this time, though it was not saying much. With three other guys there he was probably toast. But he at least wasn’t going to go down a wussy. Lt. Christian Donald Sullivan

Sullivan was out enjoying a nice day at the park with his daughter Grace and his grandchild while he had the opportunity. He was definitely a family man and he spent time doing stuff with his family whenever he could, so given that he actually had a Saturday off some family time at the park had to be done. He's granddaughter loved to run around and loved playing with bubbles...and running around chasing the bubbles, and he loved to watch it. Heck sometimes he even joined in, well the best he could anyway and for his age he didn't do a bad job. The three of them was sitting around a picnic table and had just finished their sandwiches when Sullivan heard a faint commotion in the background. He looked around to see a fight going on in the distance. Seeing her father look round and hearing the faint commotion herself Grace turned to see where he was looking and frowned when she saw the mini brawl that was kicking off. Grace began to stand up a few inches, unsure. Natural reaction was to intervene but her responsibility as a mother told her she couldn't leave her daughter. Sully motioned her to sit as he stood up himself, "Stay with her." He instructed her gently, telling her to stay with her daughter and let him take care of it. He headed straight to the boy's, seeing it looked like a case of four against one as he approached. He didn't know what had happened and who had started it, but that was unfair odds that could never be justified. Not that fighting of any kind could really be truly justified in his eyes. He got to the boys just as Kyle landed a punch and the three others was just about to go for him. "Stop it right there!" He wasn't yelling but his voice was strong, firm and authoritative, as was his commanding presence. It was enough to seen a few people running anyway. After years as a father and a leader he knew how to make people sit up and listen. Especially anyone under the age of 40! @kyle . |

Kyle was stunned by the voice, apparently the others were too. The teen knew how to spot a cop a mile away - his dad had been good “friends” with them, and now he was too with all the trouble he had. And this guy? Definitely a cop. He had that demeanor that almost made his heart leap a second. Did he run? A part of him said to do so, he didn’t even want trouble today. And he’d just been in trouble with the cops a few days ago with that Matt guy. His foster parents hadn’t liked that, and he didn’t want to get kicked out. At least he had a roof over his head even if they were jerks. After a moment though, the kids scattered before they could. Kyle smirked a little, at least he hadn’t had to really fight them, not so bad anyway. For the most part that fight had only just started before this... British cop dude had shown up. He brushed his bloody lip a little as he looked at the guy. Was he actually thankful to a cop? What was this The Twilight Zone? Maybe, but the guy had just saved his scrawny butt from a beating and if anything he owed him his thanks for that. Besides, not all cops were so bad, even Kyle knew that. They just tended to be on opposite sides of the fence. “Thanks,” he managed as he stood to his feet a little taller. Probably making himself look bad as a tall fourteen year old who was getting his butt handed to him in the process. “I think that’s probably the last time I don’t pay Trent Amico the twenty I “owe” him...” he grunted as he rubbed his jaw. “Coulda been dangerous, y’know. Those guys are thugs, no guarantee they wouldn’t hit you next” Lt. Christian Donald Sullivan

The words just about left Sully's lips when the boys took one glance at him and started running. It came as no surprise, in fact it was exactly what he had expected them to do. He had seen and dealt with an endless number of bullies in his life time to know how they acted and to know what ones would run like the cowards they really are and what ones were stupid and stubborn enough to stay and fight. Sully turned his eyes to the boy left behind as he wiped his lip and stood himself up. "Thanks."Sully gave a single nod and offered the lad the clean handkerchief out of his pocket. “I think that’s probably the last time I don’t pay Trent Amico the twenty I “owe” him...” Sully made a mental note of the name just in case he would be taking this any further later on. Not that it would necessarily need to come to that. Disturbances such as this one hardly ever did given that PD only had a certain amount of resources. “Coulda been dangerous, y’know. Those guys are thugs, no guarantee they wouldn’t hit you next” Sully almost smiled, "Don't worry about me." Again he knew from experience what type of bullies would run and what type would be stupid. And those boys wasn't the stand up to a police lieutenant type, and he knew it from where he had been sitting the other side of the grass a few minutes ago. "Are you all right young man?" He asked. Obviously Kyle wasn't peachy, he'd just been outnumbered. But Sully was making sure his injuries wasn't too bad...and that he wasn't too shaken up. After all he was still just a kid. A kid who wasn't much older than his own son would have been if he had still been alive now. "My name is Lt. Christian Sullivan." He introduced himself. "What happened?" Again, it was obvious Kyle had been outnumbered, but Sully meant what was the specifics of the attack. Where did the boys come from and why did they start? @kyle . |
